Born and raised in Ottertail, Minnesota, Donovan began his career as an apprentice tile and stone installer in 2010 under the guidance of his older brother. In the picturesque region known as the “heart of the lakes,” Donovan and his brother quickly gained a reputation for their exceptional work on luxury cabins and homes in central Minnesota.
Surrounded by a community of northern craftsmen with high expectations for their tradesmen, Donovan learned that quality is not just a luxury, but an essential expectation.
Throughout the years, Donovan honed his skills in remodeling bathrooms and kitchens, expanding his expertise beyond tile and stone. With a family deeply rooted in the trades and design, he built upon the strong foundation laid by his father and two older brothers. In 2023, Donovan brought his passion for high-quality craftsmanship to Nashville, Tennessee, where he now lives with his beautiful wife Jeorgi, their son Arlo, and a daughter on the way. With a team of skilled craftsmen, Thiel Designs embodies Donovan’s vision for exceptional quality and unique style, reflecting his northern craftsman roots in every project
